Ostravar

Ostravar is a beer typical of the City of Ostrava and surrounding area. Its brewing tradition goes back to the year 1897, when the Czech Joint Stock Brewery in Moravská Ostrava (today's Ostravar Brewery) was founded. The first batch of beer was brewed one year later. Since that time Ostravar has been brewing a beer whose character is typical for this region – from the highest quality raw ingredients, according to recipes that are a well-kept secret, using traditional brewing procedures backed by several generations of experienced brewmasters. The result: a beer of exceptional qualities and taste, recognised by a number of major awards.

Ostravar Brewery Celebration

The Ostravar Brewery Celebration, held in early June of each year, has become a tradition and one of the most popular events in the city. The latest Celebration, the sixth of its kind, can be characterized by the words: lots of music, lots of fun, and more space. Once again, visitors to the Celebration were met with a rich program. The main acts, including Kryštof, No Name and Mńága a Žďorp, played on center stage. In addition to music, visitors could compete in a substantially enlarged games zone, tour the brewery and brewery museum, and children could blow of steam in Kids’ World. The event was concluded by a grand fireworks display. On tap was the best of what the brewery has to offer: the pale lager Ostravar Premium, the new 14-degree Ostravar Strong, the specialties Velvet and Kelt and, of course, the popular yeast lager that is brewed specially for this event. And, even though the weather for the Celebration was not ideal, nearly 7,500 visitors turned out for the event.
